The federal government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) for the second consecutive week, citing continued volatility in global oil markets driven by escalating tensions between the United States and Iran.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs. 5.44 per litre, taking it to Rs. 316.15 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) has increased by Rs. 31.05 per litre to Rs. 354.35 per litre.

The revised fuel prices came into effect immediately.

The latest increase follows a sharp rise in international crude oil prices, with Brent crude trading around $87 per barrel amid growing geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East.

The government has also announced that petroleum prices will now be reviewed and updated daily until further notice, replacing the previous pricing schedule.

Earlier this week, reports of an expected price hike led to panic buying and temporary fuel shortages in several cities, with some petrol stations reportedly suspending sales due to increased demand.

In the previous review, the government had raised petrol prices by Rs. 13 per litre and diesel prices by Rs. 14 per litre. The latest adjustment continues the upward trend in domestic fuel prices as international oil markets remain under pressure.
