PMU Set Up to Speed Up Execution on Gandhara Valley City Project
According to news reports, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan sanctioned the formation of a project management unit (PMU) to expedite work on the Gandhara Valley City project.

The decision was taken during a Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) board meeting at which the project’s development was examined. During the meeting, the chief minister also approved renaming the Gandhara Valley project to the New Peshawar City Project.
Sources indicate that the PDA will advertise key program management roles for the anticipated PMU to expedite the hiring process. The New Peshawar City project contains residential and commercial zones, as well as a media enclave and a provincial secretariat.

Participants were informed that land acquisition for the project has already begun and that the master plan will be finalized by April of next year.
The PDA Private Housing Schemes (Management and Regulations) Rules, 2021 draft, was also adopted during the meeting. The bill will be introduced to the provincial legislature during the next session.
