Authorities have sealed a branch of the popular fast-food chain Red Apple located in Islamabad’s F-6 Markaz over allegations related to the issuance of unverified sales tax receipts.
According to preliminary reports, enforcement action was taken after officials identified concerns regarding the alleged use of non-authenticated or improperly generated tax invoices. Following an investigation, tax authorities conducted an operation and sealed the outlet.
The development marks the second high-profile enforcement action against a major food and beverage business in recent days.
Earlier, authorities in Punjab sealed several outlets of the Double Shot coffee chain in Lahore over alleged violations of electronic invoicing regulations. Officials claimed that the outlets were involved in discrepancies between reported and actual sales figures, as well as suspected under-reporting of revenue through the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (EIMS).
Tax authorities maintain that such violations can lead to significant losses in government revenue and are considered breaches of applicable tax laws and regulations.
The latest action against Red Apple reflects the ongoing efforts of tax authorities to strengthen compliance measures and ensure transparency in sales reporting across the retail and food service sectors.
Further details regarding the investigation and any potential penalties have not yet been officially disclosed.
