Time for Feasibility Study of Kutchery, Defence Chowk Extended
In Rawalpindi, the Punjab Housing, Urban Development, and Public Health Engineering department has extended the deadline for completing the feasibility study. The duration of the overall design for the flyover underpasses at Kutchery Chowk and Defence Chowk has been extended to eight months.
In a letter, the provincial department of Rawalpindi (RDA) extended the development period for the project titled “Feasibility Study and Detailed Design for Remodelling of Kutchery Chowk and Defence Chowk.” According to a top RDA official, National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak) carried out the feasibility assessment and designed two major squares to lessen traffic congestion in the region.
Additionally, he said that the government had approved funding for its yearly development program. Kutchery Chowk was anticipated to have an annual project cost of Rs3.6 billion. According to estimates, Defence Chowk will cost Rs 2.2 billion to build.

Regarding Kutchery Chowk and Defence Chowk, the RDA chairman explained that the decision to launch these projects one after another in a continuous manner was made with the beginning of the traffic load and continuity of traffic flow. According to him, construction on the two-story overpass at the Kutchery Chowk project will commence at the start of 2022.
Following that, construction on the Defence Chowk project would begin.
