Preservation of Sujan Singh Haveli Hangs in The Balance
In Rawalpindi, the fate of the Rs 152 million project to upgrade Bhabara Bazaar Food Street and preserve the Sujan Singh Haveli hung in the balance after the Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation (RMC) halted construction.

A top RMC official informed the appropriate officials that the work on the historical Sujan Singh Haveli’s conservation and the creation of a food street in Bhabara Bazaar had been initiated by the former commissioner Mohammad Mehmood. However, the RMC has slowed down the construction since his relocation due to the Rawalpindi Ring Road Project scam.
He claimed that in order to address the city’s parking space crisis, the provincial administration had also held down a project to build parking plazas in various locations.

Along with renovating the edifice, the RMC also had plans to update seven other temples.
The structure was owned by FJWU, which continued to think about opening a school of culture, heritage, architecture, and designs for women there, but the idea was never carried out.
The doors and windows of the structure have a magnificent workmanship. Its 45 enormous rooms are decorated with English tiles and Kashmiri wood carving.
