PTA Issues Mobile Device Manufacturing Licenses to 19 Companies
Islamabad: For the local production of 2G, 3G, and 4G mobile devices, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has granted manufacturing authorizations to 19 foreign and domestic businesses.

The PTA says that manufacturers can use the authorization to start their own new brand and help promote a culture of “Manufactured in Pakistan,” which will be in effect for the next ten years. These manufacturers will be able to export their mobile devices to other competitive markets in the region and beyond in addition to selling them in the country.
Pakistani consumers will benefit greatly from low-cost handsets and new job opportunities provided by the device manufacturing plants.

The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) issued Mobile Device Manufacturing (MDM) Regulations in 2021 following the introduction of a comprehensive and supportive Mobile Manufacturing Policy by the government to encourage manufacturers to establish manufacturing facilities in Pakistan.
