LAHORE: The Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) has approved Rs. 15 billion for development work across its industrial zones during the 2026–27 financial year. The allocation is part of the company’s overall Rs. 44 billion budget approved for the year.
The PIEDMC board also approved further steps toward acquiring additional land for the expansion of Quaid-e-Azam Business Park in Sheikhupura. The proposed land purchase will remain subject to the rules and approval process of the Punjab Cabinet.
Quaid-e-Azam Business Park is one of Punjab’s major industrial estates. The existing park covers around 1,860 acres. The planned expansion would provide additional space for industrial activities, subject to completion of the required acquisition process.
The approved development budget also includes spending on electricity infrastructure at several industrial estates. Around Rs. 630 million has been allocated for a transmission line at Quaid-e-Azam Business Park.
Another Rs. 590 million has been approved for completing a grid station at Vehari Industrial Estate. Funding has also been allocated for transformers at Sundar Industrial Estate.
The infrastructure investments are intended to support utility capacity and development across different industrial locations. Reliable electricity infrastructure is an important part of preparing industrial estates for businesses and manufacturing operations.
The distribution of funds across multiple estates indicates that PIEDMC’s development programme covers several industrial locations in Punjab. The projects include both infrastructure improvements and efforts to expand available industrial land.
For businesses considering industrial plots, the approved budget provides information about planned development spending. However, the proposed expansion of Quaid-e-Azam Business Park should not be treated as completed until the required land acquisition and government approvals are finalised.
Further progress will depend on implementation of the approved development programme and completion of the relevant administrative procedures.
