Punjab Govt to Fine Illegal Housing Schemes on Agricultural Land
According to press reports, the Punjab Board of Revenue aims to approve illegal home designs and commercial developments built on agriculturally zoned state land. Landowners who breach land-use restrictions will be penalized in addition to the imposition of additional condonation costs.
The government would collect fines and a 30 percent condensation charge from landowners who convert federal agricultural land into housing societies and commercial ventures. In a similar manner, manufacturers who purchased state-owned land for industrialization but later converted it to housing complexes are penalized financially.
Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) Babar Hayat Tarar declared on Friday that the Punjab government aims to make digitized land records available to expatriates in four countries. Initially, fourteen Pakistani missions will give Pakistanis residing overseas digitalized land records.

The digitalization of approximately 8,000 rural revenue centers is anticipated to be completed by the start of the following year, with 1,057 centers already digitized and another 3,000 centers opening in November, and another 3,000 centers opening by the end of January to provide residents with digital access to land records at their doorsteps.
