RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Commissioner Salman Ghani has directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to strengthen action against illegal housing schemes, unauthorized construction and land-use violations across the authority’s jurisdiction.

The directives were issued during a meeting at the RDA. Officials reviewed housing schemes, land-use matters and the progress of enforcement activities during the session.

The commissioner called for closer monitoring of both approved and unapproved housing schemes. He directed officials to improve oversight of development activities and take timely action when violations are identified.

Ghani also emphasized the use of technology to improve regulatory monitoring. He instructed the relevant departments to strengthen geo-tagging, land-record verification and digital monitoring of housing schemes.

Officials were directed to keep records related to land use, housing projects and planning approvals accurate and updated. The commissioner also stressed the need to verify information before taking regulatory decisions.

The meeting also focused on coordination between RDA departments. Officials were asked to improve information-sharing on planning permissions, site inspections, land-use matters and enforcement proceedings.

Ghani further directed the authority to properly document enforcement actions and ensure that identified violations are followed up. Regular reviews of housing schemes were also emphasized to help detect unauthorized development and marketing activities.

The commissioner said accurate land records, field inspections and modern monitoring tools can support more effective oversight of urban development. The directives are aimed at improving regulatory compliance and strengthening monitoring across Rawalpindi.
