Rawalpindi’s Ammar Chowk to Open for Traffic by December
According to news reports, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Mahmood Murtaza has declared that the Ammar Chowk will be ready to traffic by the end of December 2021. The purpose of the PKR 1,300,000,000 project is to alleviate the growing traffic congestion issues in the city.
According to the facts provided by the chairman, the original cost estimate for the project was PKR 754 million; however, due to design revisions, pricey construction materials, and technical improvements, the project’s cost escalated.
As approved in Project Concept-1 (PC-1), the revised design of the project involves the building of twin underpasses, the undergrounding of High Tension (H.T) and Low Tension (L.T) cables, and the provision of a new service line and reinforced earth panel.

A few measures have also been done to clean and green the surrounding environment.
The project is one of four megaprojects that the Punjab government has announced for the cantonment city. The construction of Kutchery Chowk, Defence Chowk, and Nullah Leh Expressway include the last three projects.
