RDA Geared Up to Launch Kutchery Chowk Project Next Month
In January of 2022, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) began work on the Kutchery Chowk project. The project is a one-kilometer-long, two-lane-wide underpass that will alleviate traffic congestion at the city’s primary bottleneck.

According to published sources, the construction of the project will cost approximately PKR 3.8 billion. The Planning and Development (P&D) Board was then presented with the final NESPAK proposal and study for approval. In order to reduce traffic congestion, development work on the Defense Chowk project follows the completion of another megaproject.

RDA Chairman Tariq Mahmoud Murtaza declared that the proposal had undergone significant modifications. The anticipated underpass construction would benefit double-decker buses. It will be connected to Mall Road, Jhelum Road, Rashid Minhas Road, and Adala Road.
