RDA Refocuses on Kitchen Gardening Campaign
According to news reports, the chairman of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Tariq Mehmood, has stated that the authority intends to resume its kitchen gardening campaign and is drafting a plan in partnership with the Akhuwat Foundation.

Under the new project, citizens interested in the effort will be granted interest-free micro-loans, and the authorities will distribute free seedlings. He stated that such small-scale, social-sector firms might provide people with jobs and improved lives, as well as organic vegetables that would improve their health and cut their expenses.
Last year, the RDA began a kitchen gardening project in 500 five-marla city homes by supplying them with stands and seeds. The chairman disclosed that the authority also provided training to select individuals to encourage home vegetable gardening.
