Russian FM Due in Islamabad Today
Islamabad: The Foreign Office recently stated that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit this city for two days in an effort to further strengthen and widen the ties between Islamabad and Moscow.

Lavrov will arrive in Islamabad through New Delhi, showing that Moscow no longer views India as its sole friend in the region. He will be joined by Russia’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov.
According to the statement, Foreign Minister Lavrov’s visit would help to further develop the comprehensive bilateral relationship and improve mutual understanding on regional and global concerns.
Throughout the “Afghan Jihad,” in particular, Russia and Pakistan were in opposing camps. Yet, the two nations have put the past behind them and are now progressively forging close ties.
