SC Allows Three Uplift Schemes Adjacent to Golf in Swat
Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government recently won a crucial legal battle when a three-member Supreme Court bench overturned a Peshawar High Court decision and permitted it to move forward with three significant development projects that will be carried out on plots of land that will be excavated from the golf course at Kabal area in Swat.

The three multibillion-rupee projects comprised Swat University of Engineering and Technology (UET), a children’s hospital, and a center for Rescue 1122, all of which were to be carried out in the district of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.
The old Swat ruler (Wali-e-Swat) had built the golf course at Kabal, and it was formally opened in 1964. The golf course was originally only supposed to have 9 holes, but when it was being built, more property was acquired, and it was expanded to 18 holes, covering an area of 973 kanals.

The golf course was said to have additional recreational amenities as well, such as a player and tourist rest area, a small zoo, a children’s park, a walking trail, badminton and tennis courts, etc.
However, on February 24, 2021, the provincial cabinet met in response to the high court ruling, and approval for these projects was provided.
