SHC Orders Demolition of 130 Houses Built on State Land
According to news sources, the Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) to demolish 130 residences constructed on state land designated for the development of roadways in Karachi.
The order was issued during the hearing of a case concerning the invasion of state land in Anda Mor, New Karachi, a district central to Monghopir district west.
A two-judge panel chaired by Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput directed the municipal corporation to pay residents prior to house demolition and to file a compliance report with the court within one month.

During the hearing, the court was informed that KMC allocated the property to homeowners in 1982 and then regularized it in 1987. In 2006, however, the SHC issued an order for land recovery that was never followed.
In addition, the court ordered the KMC administration to offer the residents alternative land and desist from demolishing until the completion of the compensation procedure.
