Sindh is set to receive modern firefighting equipment and upgraded emergency response systems under a proposed collaboration with China, according to officials.
The plan was discussed in a high-level meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, where authorities reviewed several ongoing and proposed areas of cooperation between the province and Chinese partners.
A key proposal involves the modernization of fire and emergency services across Sindh. This includes the provision of new fire engines, improved response systems, and the establishment of additional fire stations under a government-to-government arrangement. Officials said consultations on the project have been completed, and formal agreements are being finalized. The chief minister directed the Local Government Department to speed up the process.
The meeting also reviewed broader Pakistan–China cooperation initiatives, including a proposed coal gasification project in Thar aimed at producing fertilizer such as ammonia and urea from local coal reserves. Feasibility studies for this project are expected to be completed by May 2026.
In the agriculture and livestock sector, the discussions included plans for livestock traceability systems, vaccination programs, disease diagnostics, and the development of new laboratories and a livestock registration framework, along with technology transfer support.
Environmental and infrastructure proposals such as sewage treatment and water supply schemes were also examined, though some options were considered financially unfeasible, with officials directed to identify more cost-effective solutions.
Additional projects under consideration included a controlled agricultural science and education park to improve crop productivity and food security, as well as a tyre recycling facility planned for a special economic zone.
