Singapore Sets Up World’s Largest Floating Solar Panel Farms
Singapore launched one of the largest floating solar farms in the world, covering 45 football fields and generating enough electricity to run all five of the island’s water treatment facilities.
The project is a part of the city-efforts state’s to reach a target of quadrupling its solar energy output by 2025 in order to combat climate change in the land-scarce Southeast Asian region.

The 60 megawatt-peak solar photovoltaic (PV) farm was constructed on a reservoir in western Singapore by a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries.
According to a joint statement from the business and Singapore’s national water agency PUB, the solar farm may reduce carbon emissions by around 32 kilotons yearly, which is equivalent to removing 7,000 automobiles from the road.

The 122,000 solar panels on the 45 hectare (111.2 acres) facility should produce enough electricity to make Singapore one of the few nations in the world with a water treatment system entirely powered by sustainable energy.
PUB stated that an examination was done prior to the installation of the solar panels to ensure there was no substantial impact on wildlife or water quality, allaying concerns about the environmental impact of such projects.
