Stay on DHA Over Land Reclamation Extended Till Dec 1
Karachi: The Sindh High Court announced that its earlier interim restraining order prohibiting the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) from reclaiming further property from the coast, granting such land to anyone, and creating a third-party interest will remain in effect until December 1.

When a single-judge bench led by Justice Zulfiqar Ahmad Khan reheard the case, several attorneys submitted a vakalatnama (power of attorney) on behalf of the DHA and other defendants and asked for further time to file remarks.
The bench issued subpoenas to the Karachi Urban Lab (KUL) and the National Institute of Oceanography Pakistan (NIOP). The counsel for the plaintiffs argued that the defendants were not complying with the court’s order from October 13, whilst the counsel for the defendants argued that the order had been fully complied with and that no violation had occurred.
The bench adjourned the case until December 1 and ordered that notices be reissued to unserved defendants and that the interim order issued at the last hearing be maintained until the next hearing.
The attorneys for the plaintiffs stated that 22 private defendants, in cooperation with the official defendants, had illegally acquired recovered land and land intended for defense reasons without public auction.
