Pakistan’s cement industry posted solid growth in April 2026, with total dispatches rising by 11.14% to 3.89 million tons, driven mainly by strong domestic demand as construction activity gained momentum across the country.

According to data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association, local cement sales surged by more than 20%, reflecting increased activity in housing, infrastructure, and development projects.

In contrast, exports declined by over 18% during the same period, highlighting ongoing challenges in international markets. Industry observers point to factors such as rising costs, global competition, and shifting demand trends as key reasons behind the drop in overseas shipments.

Both northern and southern regions recorded growth in local sales, indicating that demand is expanding across multiple parts of the country. However, export performance remained uneven, with some regions facing greater difficulties than others.

Over the first 10 months of fiscal year 2026, cement dispatches grew by nearly 10% overall, largely supported by domestic consumption rather than exports.

The latest figures show that the industry is becoming increasingly reliant on the local market for growth. While strong domestic demand continues to support the sector, improving export performance will be essential to ensure balanced and sustainable growth in the future.
