Tax Relief and Global Uncertainty Boost Property Demand Across Pakistan

Pakistan’s real estate market is showing renewed activity as property demand increases across several major cities. Industry experts say recent tax relief measures, changing global conditions, and improving buyer confidence are encouraging more people to consider residential and commercial property investments.

Market activity has picked up in cities including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. Analysts identify lower property transaction taxes as one of the key factors supporting the recent increase in demand. Reduced taxes have lowered some of the costs associated with property transactions, making the market more appealing to both investors and genuine buyers.

The government has also proposed ending Section 7E, a measure that has been viewed by property stakeholders as an additional burden on property owners. Any changes to the existing tax framework could further influence investment activity in the sector.

Another factor affecting buyer behaviour is uncertainty in the Middle East. Market experts report that some overseas Pakistanis are considering greater investment in Pakistan as they reassess their international portfolios. Established housing projects and developed locations are attracting particular interest due to their existing infrastructure and demand.

Reports indicate that residential property prices in some major cities have risen by approximately 10% to 15% in recent weeks. Limited supply in sought-after locations, combined with stronger buyer activity, has contributed to price increases. However, market performance continues to vary between cities and individual areas.

Real estate professionals believe further reforms, including simpler taxation and improved land record management, could provide additional support to the sector. More transparent property transactions and efficient documentation could also encourage greater participation from local and overseas buyers.

Despite the positive market trend, experts continue to advise caution. Buyers should verify ownership records, project approvals, development status, and prevailing market prices before committing funds. Investors should also assess the location’s infrastructure, future development plans, and long-term demand rather than relying solely on recent price increases.
