UNDP to Help Islamabad Segregate, Recycle Waste
Islamabad: According to news reports, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) would start an initiative to separate and recycle waste in the capital.
The idea would initially be introduced as a three-month pilot project in Margalla Retreat, Sector I-8, Sector E-7, and Park Enclave. According to information provided on the project, the garbage will be split into two types at the source. After being recycled, the separated garbage will be put to use.
According to reports, the UNDP will distribute shopping bags in two colors to every home in the aforementioned sectors for three months. At the source site, this will assist in separating dry and other waste. Six trucks will be given to the sanitation department as part of the plan.

The UNDP will recycle dry garbage to create park furniture, trash cans, and other goods, according to information provided by the CDA, while kitchen waste will be disposed away. The project will be extended to other areas of the city if the experiment is a success.
