ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved several major development projects for Islamabad, including the Rs. 24.5 billion 11th Avenue and three new sports arenas in F-8, D-12, and G-11.
The CDA Development Working Party (DWP) approved the PC-I for the 7.5-kilometer 11th Avenue project. The planned road will connect Margalla Avenue with IJP Road. It will have three lanes on each side to improve traffic movement across the capital.
The project is also expected to include around 17 bridges and overpasses. According to the approved plan, the avenue will begin near IJP Road and pass through areas between I-10 and I-11, G-10, G-11, F-10, and F-11. It will then connect with the E-11 interchange.
The section between E-11 and D-12 has already been developed. It is currently known as Iran Avenue. The remaining 11th Avenue section is expected to be completed within one year after construction starts.
The DWP has also approved nearly Rs. 1 billion for three new sports arenas. These facilities will be developed in F-8 Markaz, D-12/1, and G-11/3.
The F-8 Markaz sports arena has been allocated Rs. 307 million. The D-12/1 facility will cost around Rs. 327 million, while Rs. 317 million has been approved for the G-11/3 arena.
The proposed sports facilities will offer several indoor and outdoor activities. These are expected to include swimming pools, gyms, futsal courts, cricket cages, padel courts, and basketball courts. Multi-purpose sports halls and indoor play areas for children are also part of the plans.
The CDA says the new arenas will bring multiple sports facilities together at dedicated locations. The projects are aimed at providing more opportunities for sports, recreation, and youth activities in Islamabad.
All three sports arenas are also planned for completion within one year after construction begins. The projects will add new recreational facilities in different sectors of the capital while supporting broader development plans for Islamabad.
