CDA to Accelerate Work on Islamabad Expressway
Islamabad: According to news sources, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has expedited construction of the Islamabad Expressway in an effort to reduce traffic congestion in the city. The road development project is nearing completion.

According to a CDA representative, contractors have completed work on the PWD crossing, and the 16-kilometer stretch of road between Koral and Rawat has been prioritized. Similarly, the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) will complete the two-kilometer stretch of road between Korang and Span bridge in the next weeks at a cost of 2.23 billion Pakistani rupees (PKR). According to a CDA official, the FWO would construct service roads next to the PWD bridge. On each side, there are two rigid lanes for heavy traffic and two flexible lanes for light traffic, for a total of four lanes. Similarly, after the budget is approved, work will begin on the final segment of the Soan Bridge project in June of this year.

It is important since it is one of the megadevelopment projects now underway in the capital city. The goal of the project is to reduce traffic congestion and enhance commutability in the capital city.
