Other Businesses Ordered Cement Manufacturers Get Register
According to news reports, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Islamabad has mandated that makers and sellers of key consumer goods and commodities including as cement, tobacco, sugar, fertilizer, and drinks register their brands in order to continue selling their products on the market.

Before selling their products on the market, all new and existing enterprises in the designated industries are required to register with the board. According to Section 40E of the Sales Tax Act of 1990, as revised by the Finance Act of 2021, the supreme tax body has published a registration method for brands.
On August 3, the FBR published Sales Tax General Order (STGO) 7/2021, a related procedural letter. All businesses mentioned in rule 150ZF of the sales tax laws for 2006 are required to register their trademarks.
Moreover, brands associated with the aforementioned industries are required to register by submitting an application to the project director (TTS) with details such as the manufacturer’s name, trade name, STRN, NTN, date and place of incorporation, name of directors, precise business location of the manufacturing unit, and product details.

The Project Director will then examine the brand registration certificate and issue it. In addition, the action is intended to prevent unlicensed brands from selling their products and to reduce tax cheating.
