Chinese Firm Publicize Construction of Hydro Plant in Chitral
Uzghor Hydroelectricity Pvt. Ltd. – A consortium of China’s Sinohydro and Pakistan’s Sachal Grou has announced the construction of an 82 MW Turtonas-Uzghor river-powered hydropower plant in Chitral.

The hydroelectric project, which is expected to be completed within four years, will be located 5 km from the 108 MW Golen Gol hydroelectric power station built on the Golen Gol River.
The project implementation was announced following approval of the tariff application submitted by the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (NEPRA). The project design, feasibility study and project financial proposal have also been approved by the Private Power Infrastructure Board (PPIB).
The project site is 5 km from the existing 108 MW Golen Gol Hydroelectric Power Station, located on the Golen Gol River, a tributary of the Mastuj River in the Chitral district of northwestern Pakistan. Chitral is located near the Gilgit-Baltistan district of Pakistan, which shares a border with China.

The National Electricity Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) cleared the sponsors’ tariff application on April 19, paving the way for the Sinohydro-led consortium to proceed with the project. According to an official NEPRA document based on a Gwadar report, the project will be completed four years after the start of civil works.
