Clock Tower of Old KMC Building to Be Repaired by German
General Holger Ziegeler of the German Consulate has announced that German master clockmakers, Perrot Tower Clocks and Bell Ringers, will aid Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) in rebuilding the 1935 historic clock tower of the former KMC headquarters on MA Jinnah Road.

The embassy has reportedly taken the initiative to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Pakistani-German relations. The initiative is essential for preserving cultural treasures. Local clockmakers are insufficiently skilled to maintain and assure the clock tower’s reliable operation, thus the German clockmaker will assist with the repairs.

Berthold Rapp, a visiting master technician, disclosed that the company provides restoration services for historical structures dating back to the 1500s. The German consulate expressed gratitude for receiving cash for a project. In addition, he revealed that the technician was coordinating with KMC to conduct repairs and provide instructions for the clock’s future functionality.
