The Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi has clarified that a notification circulating on social media about a local holiday in the district is fake.
According to the district administration, the viral document falsely claims that a public holiday has been declared across Rawalpindi on April 22, 2026. It also incorrectly states that emergency and essential services would remain operational during the supposed holiday.
Officials confirmed that no such order has been issued by the Rawalpindi District Administration, and the notification being shared online is completely fabricated.
The administration has advised citizens to:
- Rely only on official government sources
- Avoid sharing unverified documents on social media
- Verify announcements through authentic channels before believing or forwarding them
Authorities stressed that the fake notice appears to include official formatting and signatures, but it does not represent any legitimate government order.
The public has been urged to stay cautious and avoid spreading misinformation that can cause unnecessary confusion.
