Establishment of PMU for Leh Expressway Project Approved
The Punjab Working Development Party (PWDP) in Rawalpindi approved the formation of the Project Management Unit (PMU) for the Rs 65 billion Leh Expressway and Flood Channel Project.
A feasibility study for urban redevelopment along the nullah was also requested.

Nonetheless, the PWDP instructed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to lower the PMU’s operating expenses by Rs 100 million and to construct it as soon as possible.
The government has earmarked Rs 23 million for the urban regeneration feasibility study and instructed the RDA to begin the process of hiring a consultant. In six months, the consultant will undertake the study.
In light of the province government’s desire to construct economic zones along Leh Nullah, the RDA will conduct a feasibility study.

He stated that the primary objective of the urban regeneration project was to improve the appearance of congested highways and streets, thereby transforming Rawalpindi into a model city.
According to the MNA, numerous investors were interested in initiating the project. Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid wished to complete the project during the term of the PTI government, so it is likely that construction will begin during the current budget year.
