LAHORE: The Punjab government has opened online applications for the Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat scheme, allowing eligible families to apply for interest-free loans to repair, strengthen or expand their homes.
The initiative is being implemented under the broader Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar (ACAG) housing programme and is designed to help low-income households improve unsafe or deteriorating residential properties.
A dedicated application option for the Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat scheme is now available on the official ACAG portal.
Up to Rs. 500,000 for Roof Repairs
Under the scheme, eligible homeowners can obtain an interest-free loan of up to Rs. 500,000 to repair weak or damaged roofs and improve the structural safety of their homes.
The financing is intended for families whose houses require urgent repairs or strengthening to reduce risks associated with unsafe structures.
Up to Rs. 1 Million for Additional Room or Floor
Families seeking additional living space can apply for an interest-free loan of up to Rs. 1 million.
The loan can be used to construct an additional room or add another floor to an existing house, subject to the scheme’s eligibility and approval requirements.

For the Rs. 1 million loan, the monthly installment is around Rs. 9,300, according to details issued by the Punjab government.
The provincial government will also cover loan processing fees and administrative charges, helping reduce the upfront costs for applicants.
