The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government is set to introduce a real-time land encroachment alert system as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen land administration, improve transparency, and safeguard government-owned property. The digital initiative aims to detect illegal occupation of public land more efficiently and enable authorities to take timely action against encroachments.
Under the proposed system, revenue officials will receive automatic digital alerts whenever government land is suspected of being illegally occupied. By replacing manual reporting with a technology-driven monitoring system, the government expects to improve response times, enhance accountability, and strengthen oversight of public land across the province.
As part of the broader reform programme, the provincial government also plans to digitise government land records to improve accuracy, reduce administrative errors, and enhance transparency. In addition, the process of issuing Fard (land ownership documents) will be digitised, allowing citizens to access these services through the Dastak App and NADRA e-Sahulat Centres, making land-related services more convenient and accessible.
To further modernise land management, authorities will adopt geospatial technologies, including Google Earth and Remote Sensing Geographic Information Systems (RS-GIS), for land verification and site marking. These advanced mapping tools are expected to improve the accuracy of land boundary identification, support efficient inspections, and help minimise land disputes.
The government has also announced plans to digitise the entire mutation process, ensuring greater transparency in property record management while reducing the risk of manipulation. Additionally, revenue officials will be assigned specific timelines to resolve pending land dispute cases, helping speed up case resolution and improve public service delivery.
Officials believe the integrated digital system will significantly strengthen the monitoring of government land and improve accountability within the revenue department. If revenue officers fail to act after receiving encroachment alerts, the system will record their tenure and flag instances of inaction, encouraging timely enforcement and greater institutional responsibility.
These reforms represent an important step toward creating a more transparent, technology-driven land administration system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. For property owners, buyers, and investors, the introduction of digital records, automated monitoring, and faster enforcement measures is expected to increase confidence in the province’s real estate sector while helping reduce land disputes and illegal encroachments over time.
