Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has intensified its enforcement campaign by sealing 147 properties across various parts of Lahore over illegal commercial activities and unpaid commercialisation fees.

The operation was conducted on the directives of LDA Director General Tahir Farooq as part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with urban planning regulations and curb unauthorized commercial use of properties.

According to LDA officials, enforcement teams from the Town Planning Wing carried out inspections in several localities, including GT Road, Gujjarpura, Shadman, Faisal Town, and Sabzazar. During the drive, 89 properties located along GT Road, Gujjarpura, and Shadman were sealed after being found in commercial use without obtaining the necessary approvals from the authority.

In addition, recovery teams sealed 25 properties in Faisal Town and 33 properties in Sabzazar due to the non-payment of commercialisation charges. The authority reiterated that property owners who fail to regularize their commercial use or clear outstanding dues may face further legal action.

The latest operation forms part of the LDA’s broader strategy to regulate commercial activities and strengthen adherence to building and zoning regulations across the city. Officials stated that routine inspections and enforcement actions will continue in different areas to identify violations and promote lawful development.

The authority has urged property owners and businesses to obtain the required commercial approvals and settle pending commercialisation fees to avoid penalties, property sealing, and operational disruptions.

For investors, business owners, and prospective buyers, the crackdown serves as a reminder to verify a property’s legal status and regulatory compliance before purchasing or using it for commercial purposes. Conducting proper due diligence can help prevent legal complications and ensure smooth business operations.
