LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and Punjab’s Environmental Protection Agency have held a public hearing on the proposed Lahore Division Master Plan 2050, which aims to guide future housing, high-rise development and urban planning across four districts.

The proposed master plan covers Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Nankana Sahib. It addresses key urban development issues, including housing demand, high-rise buildings, transportation networks, drainage systems, parks and environmental protection.

The public hearing, reported on October 20, 2026, provided a stage for consultation on the long-term planning framework. The plan could influence future residential and commercial development, land use and infrastructure requirements across the division.

Housing demand and high-rise construction are important elements of urban planning as cities expand and require additional residential and commercial space. Meanwhile, transport links, drainage facilities, parks and environmental safeguards will also play a role in shaping sustainable urban growth.

However, the master plan remains proposed, and the public hearing does not mean it has received final approval. Details about possible changes following consultation, specific land-use classifications and regulations for high-rise buildings have not yet been provided in the available report.

Landowners, property developers and residents across the four districts should review official planning documents as they become available. The final master plan, updated land-use maps and construction regulations will help clarify how the framework may affect future property development and investment decisions.
