Murad Seeks Federal Funding for $160m Islamkot-Chhor Railway Line Project
Syed Murad Ali Shah, chief minister of Karachi, encouraged the federal government to establish a 105-kilometer railway line between the Thar Coalfield in Islamkot and Chhor in order to carry coal to the interior of the country.

The prime minister proposed executing the railway line project under the federal PSDP so that infrastructure would not have an effect on power rates.
He noted that Pakistan Railways officials had filed Rs 130 billion PC-1 for the project, which was awaiting permission from the federal government. He asked Mr. Mansoor to secure approval from the center so that crucial initiatives could be initiated.

Mr. Shah added that, in addition to the Islamkot-Chhor railway line, the existing Chhor-Mirpurkhas-Hyderabad and Port Qasim rail networks may be rehabilitated for coal transportation.
Mr. Shah was guaranteed by Khalid Mansoor that he would make personal efforts to have the project approved and launched.
