Over Rs 1 Billion Approved for Roads’ Maintenance
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Council has approved the Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority’s (PKHA) annual maintenance plan for 2021-22.

According to a statement released here, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan presided over the council meeting and directed PKHA officials to submit a detailed report on funds allocated to the organisation and maintenance work performed over the past year.
The provincial government would contribute Rs 1.2 billion to the Rs 1.672 billion maintenance plan, while PKHA would contribute Rs 472 million from its own resources. The funds would be used to ensure proper maintenance of 3,000 kilometres of provincial roads and highways, as well as rehabilitation of flood-damaged roads, construction of new toll plazas, and other operational tasks.

The meeting was informed that the current ADP includes six highway projects with a total cost of over Rs6 billion. Accelerated Implementation Programmed (AIP) also includes dualization of Bannu-Miranshah Road and improvement of Thal-Parachinar Road, which will be completed at a total cost of Rs8.6 billion.
