Pak-Afghan Trade at Chaman Border Restarts After 12 Days
Quetta: According to customs authorities, Pakistan reopened the Chaman border crossing, enabling more than 100 vehicles hauling cargo into Afghanistan.
An important port for landlocked Afghanistan, the Chaman-Spin Boldak crossing, was shut down by Pakistan for commercial trade after violent fighting broke out for control of the border earlier this month between Taliban rebels and Afghan security forces.

Speaking to the media, Chaman Chamber of Commerce President Haji Jalat Khan stated that the chamber had made serious attempts to resurrect border trade by getting in touch with various high-level officials.
Together with the transit trade containers, trucks filled with products parked at Pakistani customs began to move in the direction of Afghanistan.
Apart from a few small commercial posts, the main border crossings between Pakistan and Afghanistan are at Chaman in Balochistan and Torkham in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the ambassador, fostering trade and commercial ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan is crucial for the prosperity and development of the entire region’s economy. He continued by saying that Kabul was making genuine efforts to address difficulties affecting the communities of traders on both sides of the border.
