Plan to Install Water Plants in Cholistan
Bahawalpur: As part of a seven-year plan, the South Punjab secretariat for livestock and dairy development has planned to supply potable water to the cattle and human populations of Cholistan.

Aftab Peerzada, the secretary for livestock in South Punjab, told Dawn that brackish and saline water filtration and treatment plants would be erected at the existing wells.
Assistant Secretary Tanveer Jhandhir said it was terrible that in the present day, humans along the cattle were drinking water from the open ponds.
The 6.6 million acres of desert and sand dunes that make up the Cholistan desert are home to 2.5 million people and their 1.4 million camels, cows, sheep, and goats.

Plans were being made to install a submersible pump linked to a pipeline to provide potable water for the 400 people and 4,000 cattle within a five-kilometer radius of five tobas.
Each plant, according to him, would cost roughly Rs. 1.5 million. According to him, the department would accomplish this with the aid of benefactors and its own resources.
Raza Abbasi, the director of Cholistan Livestock, claimed that 100 wells had solar-powered equipment and were operational.
