MULTAN: The Punjab government has set January 2027 as the target for completing the Rs. 4.5 billion Multan-Lodhran Road project. Multan Commissioner Amir Kareem Khan has directed contractors to speed up construction to meet the deadline.
The commissioner reviewed progress during a visit to the project site. Officials briefed him on the 62-kilometer road project and provided details about the ongoing construction work.
Amir Kareem Khan inspected different sections of the road and reviewed the quality of construction. He directed contractors to follow the required engineering standards and use approved quality materials throughout the project.
Officials were also instructed to prepare the road base according to existing ground levels. The commissioner directed that the current road level should be maintained during construction to ensure proper alignment.
The commissioner also ordered immediate marking of the central median along the road. Authorities were asked to continue plantation activities, with several suitable locations identified along the 62-kilometer route.
Drainage was another key area discussed during the inspection. Officials were directed to construct appropriate drains to improve rainwater disposal and reduce the risk of water accumulation on the road.
The commissioner also called for the installation of median barriers and curb stones where required. Regular inspections were ordered to monitor construction quality and ensure that the work remains on schedule.
The Multan-Lodhran Road is expected to improve road connectivity along the route once completed. Authorities will continue monitoring construction progress as the project moves toward its January 2027 completion target.
