Punjab to Establish New Nursing Universities in Three Major Cities

Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has announced that new nursing universities will be established in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan as part of efforts to strengthen nursing education and improve healthcare services across the province.

He made the announcement while speaking at a World Play Day event at the University of Child Health Sciences (UCHS), where he highlighted ongoing reforms in the healthcare and nursing sector.

The minister said the Punjab government has already doubled nursing admissions from 3,000 to 6,000 and upgraded several nursing colleges across the province to improve training standards.

He further stated that modern equipment has been provided to nursing laboratories, while steps are being taken to align nursing education with international standards.

Khawaja Salman Rafique noted that Pakistani nurses are highly respected globally for their skills and professionalism, adding that the government is committed to further enhancing their training and career development.

He also announced that 450 additional medical seats will be introduced next year. In addition, specialized healthcare centers are being established at the district level, along with new training programs for nurses, including courses in stroke management.
