RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi administration has set November 2026 as the target for completing the Race Course Chowk and Charing Cross underpasses on Peshawar Road. The two projects are valued at approximately Rs8 billion and are reportedly around 60% complete.
The deadline was announced as authorities pushed for faster construction at both sites. Officials have been directed to maintain work quality while completing the remaining activities within the target period.
Construction teams have completed major structural work, while road development, drainage, utility relocation and other finishing activities remain underway.

The Race Course Chowk underpass will facilitate northbound traffic, while the Charing Cross underpass will serve southbound vehicles. The projects are intended to improve traffic movement at these busy intersections and provide smoother access along Peshawar Road.
However, the November deadline is a target rather than confirmation that both underpasses will open on schedule. The administration has not provided a detailed breakdown of the Rs8 billion project value or a separate completion status for each site.
Motorists should expect possible traffic diversions and delays around the construction areas until the work is finished. Further progress updates will help clarify whether the projects remain on track for the November target.
