Sindh Launches Rs. 65 Billion Road Infrastructure Project to Ease Traffic

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has inaugurated the 39-kilometer signal-free Shahrah-e-Bhutto corridor from Qayyumabad to the M-9 Motorway in Karachi, marking a major development in the city’s road infrastructure network.

During the ceremony, he also laid the foundation stone for the next phase of the project, which will extend the corridor towards Karachi Port.

Traffic Opened Up to M-9 Motorway

The inauguration ceremony for Phase III was held in Karachi, after which the newly completed stretch was opened for traffic up to the Kathore Bridge on the M-9 Motorway.

The project is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity between Karachi and the national highway network.

Senior PPP Leadership Attends Ceremony

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and other senior leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) also attended the event.

During the ceremony, work was also formally initiated on Shahrah-e-Bhutto Phase II, also known as the Qayyumabad Corridor project, which will connect Karachi Port to the main corridor under a public-private partnership model.

Focus on Connectivity and Urban Mobility

Addressing the ceremony, Bilawal Bhutto said that the PPP government has completed several major development projects in Karachi, adding that Shahrah-e-Bhutto is a key infrastructure initiative aimed at improving urban mobility.

Murad Ali Shah stated that the project took nearly four years to complete and will significantly improve traffic flow between Karachi and other parts of the country.

Rs. 65 Billion Project Investment

According to official details, Shahrah-e-Bhutto Phase III has been completed at an estimated cost of around Rs. 65 billion.

The upcoming Qayyumabad-to-port section is also planned under a public-private partnership model with the same estimated investment, further expanding Karachi’s road infrastructure network.
