Work at Lahore Fort’s Monuments Nears Completion
The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) has completed 65 percent of the repair and conservation of Deewan-i-Khaas, Lal Burj, and Kala Burj within Shah Jahan’s Quadrangle within Lahore Fort. The project will cost Rs 32 million and would be completed by December.

Director of Conservation at the WCLA, Najaa Usaqib, stated that the ongoing conservation and restoration efforts include the replacement of brackets and cracked marble slabs.
For the monument, marble with same physical and chemical qualities was brought in. Before usage, restoration materials were evaluated in laboratories to ensure compatibility with previously used materials.

Skilled laborers have created brackets and partially repaired marble slabs, while the remainder of the slabs have been strengthened and consolidated.
Deewan-i-Khaas, according to WLCA Director General Kamran lashari, was one of the most significant monuments at Lahore Fort during the reign of Shah Jahan.
