Pakistan Buys 100,000 Tons White Sugar in Tender

European traders in Hamburg report that Pakistan’s state trading agency TCP has purchased 100,000 tonnes of white sugar in a tender for the same number that closed last week.

All of it was purchased from Al Khaleej Sugar (AKS) for $526.80 per tonne c&f, which was the lowest offer in the tender.

Rapid shipment was requested in the bid, with the first 25,000 tonnes to be shipped within 15 days plus voyage time after contract award, with the remainder to be shipped weekly in stages.

The sugar was sought from origins around the world in bags.

The government of Pakistan authorised sugar imports in 2020 to alleviate a shortfall and reduce local prices, as production had fallen below consumption levels.
